Arroyo Grande advanced past Dos Pueblos 68-45 in the first round of the Tournament of Champions’ Gold Division on Tuesday with a solid second half.
The Chargers took a 25-24 lead into halftime but were overpowered in the second half.
“Our lack of energy on defense is what made the game turn out that way,” said Dos Pueblos head coach Jelani Hicks.
Chiara DiMarco and Jasmine Mata led Dos Pueblos with 12 points each. Jessica Escalante added nine.
DP gets back to work on Wednesday in a game against Monroe at 4 p.m. in Sovine Gym.
