The men’s basketball teams at UCSB and Long Beach State have more in common than both having lost to San Diego State in overtime this season. The Gauchos and 49ers each fell in this week’s Mid-Major Top-25.
The Gauchos (4-1) fell only one spot after losing to the Aztecs 76-75 in their last game. UCSB is No. 13 this week while Long Beach State is No. 10. The 49ers have lost 3-of-4 games since upsetting Pitt – ranked No. 9 in the country at the time.
UCSB can climb the Mid-Major poll with a victory on Wednesday against UNLV, currently the No. 18 team in the country.
Gonzaga(4-0) remains at the top of the Mid-Major Top-25, receiving 25 of 31 first-place votes. Creighton(5-0) slots in at No. 2 and Harvard(6-0) at No. 3.
