Aolani Rueff scored two goals and Westmont blew the game open in the second half to beat Concordia 4-0 in a first-round game of the Golden State Athletic Conference women’s soccer tournament Tuesday at Thorrington Field.
The Warriors advance to Friday’s semifinals.
Rueff, a former Santa Ynez star, scored her first goal in the 50th minute to start the Warriors’ three-goal second-half eruption. Melanie Green followed five minutes later with a goal off a Ashley Correa assist to make it 3-0. Rueff finished the scoring in the 85th minute, scoring on a rebound of her own miss on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
Westmont outshot Concordia 20-7 and forced the Eagles goalkeepers to make seven saves.
Westmont goalkeeper LIndsey Smith made three saves.
The Warriors improve to 12-5 while Concordia ends the year at 13-5-1.
