Point guard T.J. Taylor was one of six Gauchos who made their UCSB debut on Saturday night. Taylor is a freshman from Oakland.
Taran Brown started on Friday night at a forward position. The 6-foot-8 freshman swingman went to Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming.

Lewis Thomas, left, is a 6-foot-7 freshman from Perth, Australia. Thomas is one of five freshmen on the Gauchos' roster.
UCSB's 7-foot-3 center Greg Somogyi uses his length to get a wide-open look at the basket. Somogyi failed to score, but blocked two shots and pulled down three rebounds in 11 minutes.
