Mater Dei’s girls volleyball team has a date with top-seeded Edison after advancing past visiting Santa Barbara 25-16, 25-13, 25-19 on Thursday night in the second round of CIF in Division 1-AA.
The Dons and Monarchs were both runner-ups in their respective leagues.
“We didn’t play as we would have liked to but it was a great season for our seniors,” said Dons head coach John Gannon.
Dani Rottman topped the Dons with seven kills and Holland Crenshaw added four.
Santa Barbara, which was coming off a sweep of Royal in the first round, finishes its season with an 18-12 record.
