Santa Barbara’s Mattea Klistofte survived a marathon match against Caitlin Mannix of San Marcos and advanced to the Channel League singles final, where she’ll face three-time champion Lauren Stratman of Dos Pueblos.
The singles final is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Friday at Knowlwood Tennis Club. The double semifinals are slated for 1:30 p.m.and final at 3:30 at Knowlwood.
Kilstofte and Mannix battled for 2 hours, 40 minutes on Wednesday at the Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club. Kilstofte won 7-6 (8), 7-5.
Lauren Stratman of Dos Pueblos dropped her first game of the tournament in beating Santa Barbara’s Lexy Guilden, 6-0, 6-1, in the other semifinal.
Stratman is trying to become the first player since Santa Barbara’s Amelia White in 1988-92 to win four straight league singles titles.
The first two rounds of the doubles competition begins Thursday at Buena.
