The UCSB men’s basketball team leaped 11 spots in the last week and landed in the 12th spot on Mid-Major Top 25’s latest ranking.
The 3-0 Gauchos were ranked 23rd in last week’s poll. A 33-point win over Santa Clara followed by a victory over NAIA school Westmont pushed UCSB, whose average margin of victory is just over 26 points, into the top-15.
Long Beach State is the only other Big-West team to make the list. The 2-1 49ers beat Pittsburgh, who is currently ranked 17th in the nation, to earn the 8th spot among mid-major teams. Long Beach made the second biggest jump from last week, moving up ten spots from 18.
Gonzaga tops the list, followed by Creighton, Cleveland State, Harvard, and Belmont.
