Jenna Wilcox effectively spread the ball around and Olivia Johnson was nearly unstoppable hitting in Providence Hall’s four-set girls volleyball win at Midland School on Wednesday.
The game scores were 25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18.
Wilcox had 14 assists, six digs and served up three aces. Johnson smashed 11 kills and Faith Emerson added 10 kills with three blocks.
The Lions improved to 7-6. The need to finish with an above .500 record to be considered for an at-large berth in the CIF playoffs.
Providence Hall plays at Dunn on Saturday.
Sounds like the standards to qualify for cif girls volleyball (one more win then a loss) are pretty low.
In girls basketball if you don’t win your league then you better have a high winning percentage in the regular season if you want to qualify. I remember that a couple of years ago a local girls basketball team had a 17-12 record but didn’t make the playoffs. It appears that just about every girls high school volleyball team should make it into the post season.
