Jordan Tabor had a goal and two assists on Friday night as SBCC edged previously unbeaten Canyons 3-2 in a WSC men’s soccer match at La Playa Stadium.
The Vaqueros, ranked 15th in the state and 12th in the nation, improved to 6-1-3 and 3-1-0 in the WSC. They trail first-place Oxnard (3-0-1) by a point. Canyons fell to 4-1-4 and 2-1-1.
Tabor converted a penalty kick in the 15th minute after Nick Littleton was brought down in the box. The Cougars tied it in the 26th minute and Duran Stanley put the Vaqueros ahead 2-1 four minutes later. Stanley, a freshman from Santa Barbara High, went high to head in a cross from Tabor.
“That was one of our best goals of the year,” said coach John Sisterson. “Duran really led our attack.”
