Emily Banas notched 12 kills and three aces on Wednesday, leading SBCC to a 3-0 women’s volleyball sweep in its WSC North opener at Oxnard. Bianca Castro had 10 kills and Heidi Van Den Oever added seven kills and three aces in the 25-18, 25-19, 25-13 triumph.
It was the first sweep of the year for the 25th-ranked Vaqueros (4-8, 1-0), who‘ve shared the last two WSC titles. Rachel Stehly had two of her team‘s 12 service aces.
“Our serving was pretty good and our passing was great,” said assistant coach Armen Zakarian. “We played everyone and our three setters got a lot of action.”
The Vaqueros play host to Ventura on Friday at 7 p.m.
