Stanley’s two first-half goals propel SBCC past Glendale

Duran Stanley scored a pair of first-half goals Tuesday night and SBCC used a quick start to post a 4-0 shutout in a WSC men’s soccer game at Glendale.

The visiting Vaqueros (the teams share the same nickname) improved to 10-1-4 and 7-1-1 in the WSC. They’re ranked No. 6 in the state and unbeaten in their last eight matches (7-0-1). Santa Barbara remained a point behind conference leader Oxnard (7-0-2).

Rodrigo Perez scored his team-leading eighth goal in the 11th minute on an assist from Nick Littleton. Three minutes later, Stanley made it 2-0 after taking a pass from Andres Gomez. Stanley found the net again in the 35th minute on an assist from Jordan Tabor to give SBCC a 3-0 halftime lead.

Arman Salimpour completed the scoring in the 64th minute by heading in a free kick from Tabor.

“We scored some good goals,” said coach John Sisterson. “The boys looked comfortable all night.”
