Senior midfielder Luis Silva has been showered with multiple honors after a standout week on the pitch.
Silva was named the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week in addition to being named to the Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News Teams of the Week.
Silva propelled UCSB to its 3-2 win against third-ranked Akron last Wednesday with his golden goal just 33 seconds into overtime. It was his second goal of the game after he knotted the match at 1-1 in the 64th minute.
In Saturday’s 2-1 overtime victory at UC Davis, Silva set up the Gauchos’ first goal, assisting on James Kiffe‘s strike in the 11th minute.
This marks the second time in three weeks that Silva has garnered these three honors. He earned his first Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor – along with Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News Teams of the Week accolades – the week of Sept. 26 after tallying a hat trick in a win over San Diego.
Silva and the rest of the Gauchos will continue Big West Conference action on Tuesday when they host Cal State Fullerton in a 7 p.m. match at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.
