San Marcos survived a two-set rally by host Laguna Blanca and won the fifth set, 15-8, to take the non-league girls volleyball match on Tuesday night.
“A win is a win,” San Marcos coach Erica Downing said. “We did not play our best tonight. We did play more like ourselves in the 5th game.”
The set scores were 25-21, 25-19, 21-25, 21-25, 15- 8.
Kristen Berlo led the Royals with 15 kills and six blocks, while Katie Kim added 14 kills, including three in the fifth set.
Annika Wilson picked up four of her 11 digs in the deciding set.
The Royals had 63 digs in the match, led by Marley Miller with 13.
Setter Andi O’Donnell dished out 54 assists and contributed four kills. Jaimie Maynor served four aces.
San Marcos returns to Channel League play Wednesday at Santa Barbara.
