San Marcos struggled to move the football on Friday and paid for it, suffering a 42-6 setback at Nordhoff.
Wes Gibson found Isai Hernandez for the Royals’ only score on a short touchdown reception in the first half. San Marcos was able to find the end zone thanks to Andrew Valenzuela’s interception at Nordhoff’s 9-yard line.
But San Marcos finished the game with negative yards on the ground and the offense could not stay on the field in the second half.
Nordhoff’s Isaac Seymour was a driving force for the Rangers, collecting 170 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Nordhoff scored 28 points in the second half after leading 14-6 at halftime.
San Marcos (1-5) starts Channel League play next Friday against Buena while Nordhoff has a bye week before beginning Tri-Valley League play against Fillmore.
