Kyle Mayfield threw four touchdown passes, rushed for one, and returned an interception for his sixth touchdown in Cate’s 57-36 home victory over Hope Center Academy.
Two of his touchdown passes were to Max Wankner, and the offense also relied on Austin Gallegos who was able to come through and picked up important yardage in key situations.
The third quarter was a scoring frenzy for both teams as Cate put 33 points and Hope Center responded with 28 points for an incredible 61 points scored in a single period.
Cate (3-2 overall) begin Condor League play next weekend in a showdown with Thacher that will have major implications in the race for this year’s league title.
