Sophomore Isabella Doub capped her first season as a Santa Barbara High golfer by winning the Channel League Individual Championship on Wednesday at Soule Park in Ojai.
Doub fired a second-round 3-over 75 to finish at 152 and beat defending champion Vanesa Villa of Dos Pueblos by four shots. Villa shot a 76 after an 80 on Tuesday.
Doub birdied No. 9 to finish with a 37 on the front nine. She started the back nine with a double bogey but recovered and parred five holes.
“She’s the best golfer we’ve ever had,” Santa Barbara coach Ryan Throop said of Doub. “She’s very consistent and has a beautiful swing. She’s getting college-level scores as a sophomore in high school.
“It was great to see her and Vanesa really compete.”
