SBCC scored three goals in the first 17 minutes Tuesday night en route to a 6-0 women’s soccer victory over Cuesta at La Playa Stadium.
Jessica Domenichelli and Katie Voss each collected a pair of first-half goals as the Vaqueros (8-0, 3-0 WSC) tallied all six goals in the first 40 minutes. Domenichelli also had two assists before sitting out the second half.
It was the third straight two-goal game for Domenichelli.
“Once we get that first goal, we just want to keep going,” said Domenichelli, who’s notched seven goals while scoring in four straight games. “We always want to score and it was nice to see everyone get in the game.”
The Vaqueros are ranked No. 3 in Southern Cal and No. 5 in the nation.
Morgan Crumpley scored in the seventh minute on an assist from Jo Lawlor and Voss struck three minutes later after taking a pass from Courtney Allard. Domenichelli made it 3-0 in the 19th minute on a through ball from Ali Raack. Raack had a goal and two assists.
Domenichelli struck again in the 27th minute on a well-timed pass from Raack, The duo combined again in the 33rd minutes when Domenichelli led Raack with a perfect pass and Raack beat the goalie from close range.
Voss completed the scoring in the 40th minute by streaking down the middle, taking a pass from Domenichelli, and beating the keeper.
Cheyenne Rodriguez and Hannah Zech combined for the fifth shutout of the year. The Vaqueros outshot the Cougars 20-1 in the first half.
“We came out of the starting gate fast and got our just rewards,” said coach John Sisterson. “It was very pleasing the way we knocked the ball around. Jessica, Katie and Ali are starting to combine together and look for each other.”
The Vaqueros travel to Ventura for a key match on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
