Jessica Domenichelli notched her first hat trick of the season Tuesday night and SBCC scored six goals in the first 34 minutes on the way to a 10-0 women’s soccer rout of West L.A. at La Playa Stadium.
Domenichelli had three goals in a 16-minute span of the first half and left the game in the 32nd minute. She leads the Vaqueros (9-2, 5-1 WSC North) with 13 goals in 11 games.
Cheyenne Rodriguez, who normally plays goalie for the 14th-ranked Vaqueros, came on in the 32nd minute at forward and scored the first goal of her career two minutes later. She finished with two goals and an assist as did Natalie Powell.
“I wanted to try something new,” said Rodriguez, who also found the net in the 53rd minute to make it 9-0. “It was the biggest rush to score a goal.”
Ali Raack had three assists and Katie Voss contributed a goal and two assists for Santa Barbara, which used all 23 of its players. The Vaqueros outshot the visitors 30-0 with 17 shots on goal.
John Sisterson recorded his 150th win as coach of the SBCC men’s and women’s teams. His record is 150-53-41 in seven years with the women and five with the men.
“We got everybody in and that was good. Cheyenne has been bugging me to play in the field, so we gave her a chance.”
SBCC opens the second round of conference play on Friday against Oxnard at 7:30 p.m. in La Playa Stadium.
