The Carpinteria High girls volleyball team started strong against Cate, but the Rams fought back and the two teams went back and forth until the Warriors won in five sets.
While the match was close, each set was one convincingly. The scores in the match were 12-25, 25-17, 25-16, 14-25, and 11-15.
“The first game we were so flat we couldn’t get the ball back over the net,” Cate head coach Greg Novak said. “We forgot about that game and started new like it was 0-0 and just did the same thing every time.”
For the Warriors, Maddie Brook had eight kills, Allie Nixon had six aces, and Kylie Augerot led with 15 digs.
Cate was led by Cyndey Pierce with 12 kills and just one error, while Annie Wies added eight kills, and Emma Birrell contributed seven more.
Carpinteria will travel to Santa Paula for their next match.
Cate (0-4) will start Condor League play at Dunn on Wednesday.
