Brandon Gonzalez and Jack Gregson combined for 255 rushing yards in Bishop Diego’s 35-0 rout of Santa Clara on the road.
“Brandon is clearly was the healthiest that he’s been in several weeks,” head coach Tom Crawford said. “It was a bright spot for us to see how mobile he was.”
Gonzalez had three touchdowns and 160 yards on 17 carries, while Gregson gained 95 yards on just four carries.
Quarterback Nolan Tisdale threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Reese Moulton and 17-yard scoring strike to Nick Mon.
With the offense continually lighting up the scoreboard, the defense’s fine performance was nearly overshadowed.
“To have a second shutout in a row is really showing the development of our defense,” Crawford said. “Santa Clara put together a couple drives and we stopped them at the edge of the red zone.”
The Cardinals improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Frontier League. The team plays next at Grace Brethren next Friday.
