Jessica Domenichelli recorded another first on Friday at La Playa Stadium with her second straight hat trick in a 5-0 women’s soccer victory over Oxnard.
The sophomore striker from El Dorado Hills scored three second-half goals in the 59th, 73rd and 90th minutes on assists from Jenna Rubin, Katie Voss and Debbie Arreola. She also had a hat trick in Tuesday’s 10-0 win over West L.A., giving her six goals in two games.
She has six hat tricks in her SBCC career but this is the first time they’ve come in back-to-back games.
The Vaqueros, ranked No. 10 in Southern Cal, improved to 11-2 and 6-1 in the WSC North. Cheyenne Rodriguez was in goal for the eighth shutout of the season.
Ali Raack scored the first goal from 18 yards out in the 30th minute and Brittany Brennhofer struck three minutes later to make it 2-0. Voss assisted on both scores and finished with three assists.
Domenichelli beat the goalie 1-on-1 after a long through ball from Rubin, then scored on a rebound in the 73rd minute. Arreola made a high cross from the left side and Domenichelli headed it in the last minute for her 16th goal of the year.
She’s the No. 5 scorer in the state with 38 points.
“Jess and Katie really play off each other,” said coach John Sisterson. “They both have pace and it’s difficult for defenders to deal with them. Sara Tomas played a great game at midfield.”
The Vaqueros have road games next week at Hancock (Tuesday) and Cuesta (Friday).
