SBCC dropped two women’s volleyball matches on Friday to a pair of powerhouse programs at the El Camino Quad Tournament. The Vaqueros fell to El Camino 25-20, 25-16, 25-23 and Pasadena 25-22, 25-10, 25-10.
Emily Banas had 12 kills and Erika Bellitt contributed 11 digs for SBCC (0-4) in the El Camino match. Heidi Van Den Oever added five kills and hit .500. In the afternoon match, Rachel Stehly had seven kills and Bianca Castro five.
“Our serving and passing were better (against El Camino) but 24 total hitting errors hurt us,” said assistant coach Armen Zakarian. “We’re still trying different lineups and dealing with injuries. We should be much better and mentally tougher as we move forward.”
The Vaqueros will host their own SBCC Quad on Sept. 17.
