SBCC enjoyed a breakthrough on Wednesday with a 1-2 finish at the fourth WSC women’s golf tournament.
Haley True, a freshman from Santa Barbara High, fired a 3-over-par 75 at Diamond Bar GC to take medalist honors. Teammate Nicole Bullemer was second with a 77. The Vaqueros finished in a season-best second place with 319 strokes, just three behind Glendale.
“It was a great day and I hope this is a turning point for us,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “It was a long day because this course always plays slow. We did a great job of keeping our focus.
“We’re starting to gain confidence and we know we can play with any team in our conference.”
The Vaqueros will compete in the North-South Invitational on Sunday and Monday at Morro Bay GC.
