UCSB midfielder Luis Silva has received two more weekly honors for his standout performance last week. The senior has been placed on the Soccer America Men’s Team of the Week and was selected as the SoccerSavings.com/LA Soccer News Men’s College Player of the Week.
These honors follow Silva’s selection as the Big West Offensive Player of the Week and his naming to the College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer National Teams of the Week.
Silva scored his first collegiate hat trick on Friday to help lead UCSB past San Diego, 3-0, in front of the second largest crowd in program history. A total of 13,772 fans witnessed Silva score in the 11th, 29th and 59th minute.
Silva and the Gauchos open Big West Conference play Wednesday at UC Riverside. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
