After falling behind 2-0 at halftime, the SBCC women’s soccer team rallied for four second-half goals on Tuesday and beat Oxnard 4-3 in its WSC opener on the road.
Ali Raack, a former San Marcos High standout, got the game-winner in the 80th minute with a left-footed smash from 20 yards out after a cross from Courtney Allard.
Jessica Domenichelli had two goals and an assist for the Vaqueros (6-0), who are ranked No. 6 in the state and No. 5 in the nation. She scored in the 46th and 63rd minutes to tie it at 2-2. Raack and Katie Voss got the assists.
The Vaqueros went ahead on a goal by Brittany Brennhofer in the 65th minute with Domenichelli assisting. Oxnard tied it at 3-3 in the 72nd minute.
“We responded very, very well in the second half,” said coach John Sisterson. “It was a strange sort of game. It took us a while to get going but once we did, we showed a lot of spirit.”
The Vaqueros will host Hancock on Friday at 2 p.m.
