The Santa Barbara High girls volleyball team defeated Buena in three sets to start Channel League play with a victory.
The scores for the sets were 25-19, 25-19, and 25-18.
Although the team was not as sharp as it had been during some preseason matches, it was able to pull through and win comfortably.
“Statistically it was our worse match of the season in terms of hitting percentage, but we served really well,” head coach John Gannon said.
Dani Rottman led the team with 12 kills, while Holland Crenshaw added six more and Frankie Lewis finished with five. Kira Schleich had 31 assists in the game and Remi Pulice fought through a nasty head cold to turn in a fine performance.
The Dons continue league play at San Marcos on Tuesday.
