Caitlin Mannix and Jordan Lund each went 3-0 in singles play to help the San Marcos girls tennis team win its first match of the season, 12-6 at home against Santa Ynez.
“It is alway nice to get off to a great start,” Royals interim head coach Aaron Solis said. “However, the girls know there are some things they still have to work on.”
The game of the match came in doubles play between San Marcos’ Alexis Flores and Leanne Sturman and Santa Ynez’s Allee Gettee and Mackenzie Mueller. The San Marcos duo were down a break but came back and won a tiebreaker in thrilling fashion to take the set.
“Very fun to watch,” Solis said.
The Royals (1-0) continue their season on Tuesday at West Ranch High.
