San Marcos struggles in doubles play against West Ranch

Despite strong play in the singles matches from Caitlin Mannix and Jordan Lund, the San Marcos girls tennis team struggled in doubles play during stormy weather in an away match against West Ranch.

The Royals lost 15-3 with Mannix and Lund recording all their points.  The match was delayed for 15 minutes during thunderstorms that passed through the Santa Clarita Valley.

Lund played West Ranch’s Julia Lynch into a tie-breaker before losing the set, but was able to regroup and convincingly win her next set 6-3.

“West Ranch was a very good team and should help us get ready for the Channel League,” head coach Alex Sheldon said.

San Marcos begins league play on Tuesday at Dos Pueblos.
