Kristen Berlo had 13 kills for the San Marcos girls volleyball team, but it still lost to San Luis Obispo in five sets.
Kat Crook played solid defense for the Royals and contributed 23 digs, but after surging in the second and third sets, the Royals were unable to maintain the upper-hand. The scores for the sets were 18-25, 26-24, 25-17, 14-25, 7-15.
“It was a great game for us,” head coach Erica Downing said. “It was one of those tough losses when you play really well. It’s a lot of momentum for Channel League.”
San Marcos starts league play on Tuesday at Dos Pueblos.
