The San Marcos High girls volleyball team won one match and lost two, leaving them in a three-way tie for second place in their pool at the San Luis Obispo Tournament. They advanced through to the next round of pool play based on a tiebreaker.
The Royals defeated Morro Bay in their first match in two straight sets. Their next match was against Saugus and they lost in consecutive sets. Their final match of the day was a close contest against Newbury Park which San Marcos lost in three sets.
“We got to see a really good team in Saugus,” San Marcos head coach Erica Downing said. “It’s preparing us for the season having DP and Santa Barbara in our league.”
The Royals received solid performances from Andie O’Donnell and Charlotte Garrett which helped propel the team through to the next round of the tournament. The remaining 16 teams will be reseeded going into tomorrow’s games.
