Jaimie Mayner and Kristen Berlo had eight kills each, and the San Marcos girls volleyball team pushed Hart to four games, but fell short in the non-league match.
The Royals lost 25-13, 16-25, 25-23, 25-18.
Marley Miller recorded seven digs while playing libero, but her defense was not enough to overcome mistakes in the passing game for the Royals.
“Our passing needs a lot of improvement and its something we’ve been focusing on,” head coach Erica Downing said. “We’re still getting used to the speed of the ball.”
Jaimie Mayner has transitioned to the outside for the Royals this season and is rapidly improving.
“Every time she plays the position she’s getting better,” Downing said.
With the addition of Berlo, a transfer and state-champion from Florida, San Marcos (1-1) is optimistic about the rest of its season.
The Royals play next at home against San Luis Obispo.
