Rodrigo Perez assisted on a first-half goal and scored in the second half to lead SBCC to a 2-0 men’s soccer victory over Cypress on Friday night at La Playa Stadium.
Yonha Adrabi and the defense posted the first shutout of the year for the Vaqueros (2-0-1), who are ranked 10th in the nation by the NSCAA. It was the 13th career shutout for Adrabi, who made his season debut.
Ramen Sepasi, a freshman from Sweden, scored his first goal of the year in the 11th minute after taking a pass from Rodrigo Perez. In the 67th minute, Santiago Perez (no relation) fired a header off the left post and Rodrigo Perez headed in the rebound for his third goal.
“Ramen had a tremendous game at left back,” said coach John Sisterson. “He got forward, defended well, overlapped well and he deserved the goal. He may have been the man of the match.
“Rodrigo is a live wire and he really gives you something up front.”
SBCC outshot the Chargers 22-10 and had eight shots on goal. The Vaqueros are 15-1-2 in their last 18 home games.
“We did quite well, a real professional job,” Sisterson added. “We’re starting to develop as a team and as a unit.”
The Vaqueros will host San Bernardino Valley on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
