San Marcos’ Melissa Jewkes and Ventura’s Glenda Marshall both finished the course at Santa Barbara Golf Club with a score of 48 and were co-medalists in the Channel League match, which Ventura won 267-285.
“Our individual goal is to get all the girls into the 50s,” San Marcos head coach Shawn Ricci said. “That is our goal and each day we try to go out and manage our shots to reach that goal. I’m confident that we are moving in that direction and am hopeful that we will get there before the season ends.”
A good example of such improvement came from Kelsey Gellert, who shot a 60 during the match, and has continued to get better throughout the season, said Ricci.
San Marcos plays next at Pacifica on Monday.
