Lauren Stratman opened her senior season going 3-0 in sets, and Dos Pueblos held off Calabasas, 10-8, in a non-league girls tennis match on Thursday at the Charger courts.
Stratman is the three-time Channel League singles champion. Her younger sister, Kate, provided a big lift by winning two sets against the Coyotes.
The doubles team of Sophia Rasmussen and Christina Daniel also won a pair of sets to help the Chargers (1-0).
“It came down to the wire,” first-year coach Anne Altamirano said. “(The girls) played tough for the first match of the season.”
Dos Pueblos 10, Calabasas 8.
