Morgan Crumpley scored in the final minute Friday to lift SBCC over Orange Coast 2-1 in the BK Invitational women’s soccer tournament at Ventura College.
It was the third win in four days for the Vaqueros (3-0), who fell behind 1-0 in the 50th minute. Five minutes later, Jessica Domenichelli tied it on an assist from Alison Raack.
SBCC got a free kick in the 90th minute and Katie Voss sent a high ball into the box from the right side. Crumpley, a sophomore defender, settled it to her feet and beat the keeper from close range.
“Hard work and spirit got us through,” said coach John Sisterson. “This really showed our character. It was probably one of the best weeks we’ve ever had with the women’s team.”
Voss, a sophomore midfielder, collected four goals and four assists in her first three games with the Vaqueros.
SBCC will play two home games next week — Tuesday against Taft and Friday against Cuyamaca. Both start at 2 p.m. in La Playa Stadium.
