Senior co-captains Greg Cusack and Miles Barney carried the offense for the Cate boys water polo team, but the team was unable to defeat hosts Villanova and the final score was 8-5.
The Rams led early, but then proceeded to struggle with communication, and their passing broke down. Villanova gained momentum and scored three consecutive goals in the second half to win the first Tri-Valley League match for both teams.
Cusack finished with three goals and Barney had two.
Cate (1-3 overall, 0-1 league) plays next on Friday at Malibu, the defending league champions.
