After conducting only one practice, the Cate School girls volleyball team played its first game against St. Bonavernture and lost in straight sets.
St. Bonaventure defeated the Rams 25-19, 25-12, and 25-17.
For Cate, Cydney Pierce had eight kills and Annie Weis had five. The younger members of the team made valuable contributions as sophomore Tamsyn Walker also had five kills and freshman Maddie Becker played well in the back row.
“Overall, we see great promise in the team’s ability,” Cate head coach Greg Novak said. “We’re going to be a defensive monster. I think that’s going to be our biggest asset.”
Cate (0-1) will play next this Saturday at the Laguna Blanca Tournament.
