Tyler Remnant had five goals for the Buena High boys water polo team in its win 22-4 over Carpinteria at home on Wednesday. The game was Carpinteria’s season debut.
Carpinteria was able to hold Buena scoreless for the first few minutes, but the first quarter ended 6-1 in favor of the Bulldogs. Buena started to pull away in the second quarter, opening up a 12-3 advantage.
The lead grew to 19-4 by the end of the third period.
“The first couple games help us gauge where we’re at and where we need to go,” Carpinteria head coach Bryan Swarm said. “We see where our program is at opposed to bigger programs.”
For Carpinteria, Ben O’hara had two goals and Thomas Fly and Dylan Hathaway each had one apiece. Jacob Pate had nine saves for the Warriors.
Besides Remnant’s five, Mason Mullholand, Jacob Oliver, and Alex Villapondo had three goals each. Donald Rhoden had 13 saves for the Bulldogs.
