The Carpinteria High girls tennis team defeated two-time defending Frontier League champions Villanova 13-5 after dedicating the match to former athletic director John Ward, who passed away one year ago.
“To dedicate the match to Coach Ward and actually follow up with such an amazing performance against a high quality opponent was just magical,” head coach Charles Bryant said.
Kelsie Bryant won all her matches 6-0 to remain undefeated on the season while Kassandra Ni had a strong performance and went 2-1.
Erin Saito and Lesly Zapata made a formidable tandem and went undefeated on the day. Both Catalina Maldonado/Shanya Norman and Natalie Saito/Katherine Delk went 2-1 in an excellent performance from the doubles teams.
Carpinteria (6-1 overall, 3-0 league) continues their tear through the Frontier League at home against Bishop Diego on Tuesday.
