Every set came down to the wire, and every set went to Laguna Blanca in its home girls volleyball match against Bishop Diego.
The scores were 26-24, 25-23, 25-22.
“Our ball control was good and we cut down on our errors,” Laguna Blanca head coach Jim Alzina said.
Amanda Harvey and Bella Taron led the Owls through their disciplined effort, while Clara Madsen played well after stepping in for an injured Fiona Jessup.
For Bishop Diego, setter Nicole Tetherow led the team with 36 assists and 13 digs while Jenna McIntyre made an important contribution on defense.
But in the end, the Cardinals made too many mistakes in the closely contested match.
“I think we’re going to learn from the mistakes we made tonight, specifically the unforced errors,” head coach Jason Donnelly said.
Bishop Diego plays next on Thursday at home against Oak Park.
Laguna Blanca continues its season on Saturday at the Carpinteria Tournament.
