The Bishop Diego girls volleyball team got off to an excellent start at home in a Tri-Valley League match against Oak Park, and rode its momentum to a victory in four sets.
The scores were 25-19, 25-17, 18-25, and 25-23.
Several Cardinals posted impressive statistics. Lauren Underwood and Diana Sleep each had 17 kills and 14 digs while Nicole Tetherow had 28 assists and 22 digs. Libero Madison Ballard aided the team’s impressive night with an excellent defensive and passing performance, said coach Jason Donnelly.
Despite slowing down as the match progressed, Bishop Diego was able to avoid a fifth set.
“It was nice to see our kids play composed in that fourth set when things got tough,” Donnelly said. “We really played our best volleyball of the year tonight.”
The Cardinals continue their season at the Carpinteria Tournament on Saturday.
