Axelrod throws 2 scoreless innings in MLB debut

Santa Barbara’s Dylan Axelrod made his Major League debut Wednesday night, pitching two innings of relief for the Chicago White Sox in a 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

The right-handed Axelrod, who starred at Santa Barbara High, SBCC and UC Irvine, pitched two innings, didn’t allow run, gave up two hits, walked one and struck out two.

He was called up by the White Sox on Monday from Triple-A Charlotte, where he was 7-1 with an ERA under 2.50.
