Westmonster 5k is about fun, family, fundraising for Warrior athletics

An evening run through the beautiful campus of Westmont College and a dinner awaits participants in the second annual Westmonster 5K on Thursday, Aug. 18.

“I’m hoping it will be a magical evening,” said Westmonster 5k Director Bryan Cox. “I’d like it to be a great time. I’d like it to be a competitive atmosphere but also have a lot of fun for families and friends to enjoy each other and the community of Westmont.”

The open 5k race begins at 6:15 p.m. next to the Westmont Track. Participants can register online by accessing the Westmont Athletics website at (www.westmont.edu/athletics) and clicking on the Westmonster 5k logo.

Proceeds from the race benefit Westmont College Athletics.

“It’s been nice to help out with something I am participating in,” said Cox, a senior on the Westmont men’s tennis team. “Following the race, we will have a 1k kids race, which will be really fun,” said Cox. “Directly following the run, we will have food and drink for everyone, including some raffle prizes.”
