Dos Pueblos played its first official girls volleyball match of the season on Wednesday, and the Chargers came out fired up and never let up in sweeping Newbury Park 25-11, 25-18, 25-13 on the road.
Dos Pueblos, ranked No. 2 in CIF Division 1-AA, won two preseason tournaments before Wednesday night’s opener.
“The girls came out with a lot of energy,” assistant coach Jacky Yao said. “We were able to put in a couple different lineups and the girls all contributed.”
Hannah Harris and Colleen O’Connor provided solid serving and ferocious hitting from both sides of the court.
Setter Emma Craine created several one on one opportunities for the DP hitters.
Yao also praised the play of Sammie Rhine in the middle.
