With an experienced lineup, led by outside attacker Taylor Racich, the Dos Pueblos girls volleyball team received the No. 2 ranking in the CIF Division 1-AA preseason poll.
The Chargers return most of the team that went 20-8 last year and won the Channel League with a perfect 8-0 record. Eight seniors are their roster, including the Racich twins — Taylor and setter Tristan. Taylor is coming off a big summer, helping the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club 18-Smack team win the gold medal at the National Junior Olympics. She was named the MVP of the tournament.
Dos Pueblos showed that it’s deserving of the ranking at a recent preseason tournament in Oxnard. The team went undefeated and beat third-ranked Redondo in the final.
Los Alamitos earned the No. 1 ranking in Division 1-AA, the top division in the CIF.
Santa Barbara tied for ninth in the poll with Thousand Oaks. The Dons feature front-line players Dani Rottman and Holland Crenshaw, both of whom played on the 18-Smack championship club team.
In Division 3-AA, Santa Ynez was ranked eighth, and Laguna Blanca received the same ranking in Division 4-AA.
