The unveiling of a headstone for Santa Barbara beach volleyball legend Henry Bergmann will be made at a special ceremony on Saturday at the Santa Barbara Cemetery.
The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. in Central Block A, which is close to the cemetery entrance from Channel Drive.
Bergmann died in October of 2009. He was 65.
“This gathering will be an opportunity to pay tribute to not just Santa Barbara’s home-grown beach volleyball legend, but also to a very special human being,” said Laszlo Kiraly in a letter to friends of Henry Bergmann.
A special donation to the Friends of East Beach Association from the heirs of Bergmann’s estate will also be presented as part of the event.
The Friends of East Beach last year bought and erected new volleyball net standards and named the court after Henry Bergmann.
