Chris Braden completed the fastest Nite Moves aquathon of the season Wednesday night, finishing the 1k-swim and 5-k run in 32 minutes, 30 seconds at Leadbetter Beach.
Braden, a Dos Pueblos graduate and a member of the University of Colorado triathlon team, covered the ocean swim in 13:40 and ran up and back down Shoreline Drive in 18:51.
The previous fastest time of the season was 35:06 by Al Sladek and Kyle Visin.
Ireland’s Donncha O’Siadhail finished behind Braden in 35:36 and Visin was third in 37:22.
Lindsay Covington of Ventura was the first female finisher on Wednesday in 39:36.
Open-water swimming Olympian Mark Warkentin won the 1k swim for the second straight week in a time of 12:34. He went under 12 minutes last week.
Karen Schultz was the first woman in 14:35.
In the 5k run, Dos Pueblos cross country runners Tanner Neal and Cuyler Gabriel went 1-2. Neal ran 17:57 and Gabriel 18:08.
Jill Himlan of Summerland was the women’s winner in 19:13.
