UCLA’s Anton Arboleda tuned up for the U.S. Amateur by winning the SCGA Match Play Championship at Sandpiper Golf Course on Wednesday.
Arboleda defeated Greg Moss of Sherman Oaks 2 and 1, sinking a 25-foot putt on the 17th hole to clinch the title. He finished 4-under for 17 holes. His only bogey of the championship match came on the par-3 11th hole.
Moss eliminated local Kevin Marsh 2 and 1 in the morning semifinals, while Arboleda defeated Xander Schauffele 4 and 2 in the other semi.
Arboleda will next play in the U.S. Amateur at Erin Hills in Wisconsin on Aug. 22.
