Kathrin Winkler and Tarin Keith, a pair of triple-A players, won their second California Beach Volleyball Association tournament title on Saturday, beating Heather Evans and Cindy Phillips 28-22 in the final of the Santa Barbara Open at East Beach.
The tournament was part of the Semana Nautica summer sports festival.
Winkler-Keith in May won the Hermosa Beach AAA and took a second in a AAA tourney in Manhattan Beach. They combined good defense with some well-placed shots to pull away and frustrate Evans and Phillips in the windy conditions late in the afternoon.
The team of Tanya White-Johanna Schatz and top-seeded Alicia Zamparelli and Aurora Skarra-Gallaher tied for third.
Santa Barbaran Caitlin Racich and Tara Roenicke finished tied for fifth with Catie Mintz-Kelly Rowe.
There were 29 teams in the tournament.
