The men’s open division final of the Santa Barbara Open will feature two top-20 players on the Southern California tennis circuit and the tournament’s top seeds.
No. 1 Luis Antonio Perez of Los Angeles takes on second-seeded Kallim Stewart of Ojai for the championship on Saturday at the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara.
Perez, a native of Spain and the No. 17-ranked open player in the SCTA rankings, defeated local favorite and former champion Samuel Webster in the semifinals on Sunday, 6-1, 6-2.
Perez will be looking to avenge last year’s three-set defeat in the final.
Stewart, a former Cal and UCLA standout, who is ranked 20th in Southern California, outlasted former UCSB star Alex Anselme, 7-5, 7-6.
Current Santa Barbara High player Sammer Aziz won the open division consolation title
The mixed doubles final also will be played on Saturday. It will feature Christopher Ho and Sarah Yang against Sasha Gryaznov and Natalia Lozano.
Ho-Yang defeated the local team of Erica Cano and Austin Cano (7-6, 6-2) while Gryaznov-Lozano knocked off Timothy Donaldson-Estafania Limpias of Bakersfield (6-0, 7-5).
The men’s open doubles championship was won by the top-seeded team of Matthew Stith-Christopher Ho. They defeated Roy Bryan and Grant Chen, 6-2, 6-3.
